moving layouts by date to different categories via database/phpmyadmin

We'd like to bulk move layouts by date to different categories to archive them. With THOUSANDS of layouts on our site you can imagine this would take a LONG time to do via the admin control panel.

Is there a query that I could use that would make this task much easier?

well really not something I can say without knowing more about what you mean by dates.

You need to be really specific in mysql with what queries you issue as it can create havoc.

well the only way to move things really is through scripting.

You would have to alter the admin bulk move code in some fashion

You cant do it simply by a query alone.
