Album photo set not all displaying with enlarged photos

Example album - this one especially has problems.
Message - Blab Gallery
If needed:
username JustTesting
password qwerty

Click on the first photo to enlarge it, and the use Next to scroll through the photos. Two things occur - not all the photos display - the photos that do display don't scroll through in the sort order for the album. Next & Previous give wonky results.

Click on any photo and work with next/previous, and see similar results - missing photos, photos re-appearing on every other image, photos otherwise out of order.

The thumbnail display page appears to be correct - all photos displaying in the right order.

This problem seems to have cropped up overnight. Yesterday everything was working normally, we haven't had this issue before. Best we can tell there was no change in the setting. The server host php version is 5.2.9. I can ask if that has changed recently. HostGator has announced it is not going to 5.3 soon.

Thanks for all suggestions and help!

(We're having a judged photo exhibit and the order of the photos in the scroll is important. Right now we're telling judges not to use it.)

What I am seeing this morning is not what myself and every other person visiting the album saw yesterday. Yesterday was as described in my first post, it gives a detailed description.

Today the difference is:
Clicking on a photo to enlarge it brings up not only the enlarged photo, but also a horizontal display of the thumbnails above the photo. That was not present yesterday. (Should have gotten a screenshot.) Now the next-previous appears to be scrolling properly, through each photo in order.

So it looks like it is working ok today. There have been no changes to the admin settings that I'm aware of. I don't know what caused the problem we were having yesterday, and don't know what resolved it today. This is a complete mystery to me.

I spoke too soon, we are continuing to have problems. With some trial and error I believe the issue is the sort criteria. I don't know how to control which criteria is invoked in the "enlarged" photo "next/previous" scroll, and in the thumbnail strip above the enlarged photo. And it appears the sort criteria may be changing each time the "next/previous" or the thumbnail strip "more" arrow is selected, and that causes the photos to appear to move around.

The same link as in the first post

Having opened the album page, I selected a sort order "posted date," and the sort is done correctly for the album view. From there, clicking on the first upper left photo to enlarge it, the thumbnail strip displays above the enlarged photo, but it is not showing this enlarged photo. If the strip "more" arrow scroll is used the photos are not in the "posted date" order selected at the album page. Using the scroll for the enlarged photo "next/previous" also shows the photos are not in "posted date" order, and they are also not in the same order as the thumbnail strip.

In order for a sequential group of photos to make sense to viewers I need to be able to control the sort order for all displays, the "enlarged" photos and the thumbnail strip, and of course the slideshow. Ideally the sort order chosen for the album page view would be used for the other views, enlarged, thumbnail strip and slideshow.

Hope there is something to help us ...

The sorting is based off what you pass to the program as in if you are cookied with another sort etc. The base sort comes from the category settings.

You may not always have sequencial sorting as its never been that way with next prev ever.

You can try making your cat sorts all latest and see if that helps.

The cookies explain why we couldn't keep the dropdown selection as the sort order for all views. I like the default sort, but I would like to put in a vote for user-controlled sorts that override the default sort set by the admin.

I went to the Admin > Edit Categories for this album's parent category and changed "Default Sort Order" to Most Popular. I don't know where it specifies, but I assume that means sort on Ratings. I checked the very bottom box for "Check box to apply these settings and permissions to all children." Saved changes.

However, visiting the album again, and even exiting the gallery and re-entering, the same linked album is not sorting by Ratings. I don't think Most Popular could be views instead of ratings since there is also a selection for Views.

How do I get a default sort by ratings? How can users override the default sort for enlarged photos next/prev, slideshow and for the thumbnail strip? Still a bit lost.

Make sure when you make any changes you delete all cookies in your browser

Most popular is the closest its going to sort by rating descending and then views descending.
