Favorites Not Showing Up When Tagged

I upgraded a few months ago and now when anybody clicks to "Favorite" a photograph, it will read that the picture is "Favorited" but won't go into the persons "Favorites" gallery. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and thank you. This has been happening since the upgrade only. Before, everything worked just fine.

what is a url and test user login.

The favorites are all handled as search's and mine appear to work when I test it

No, it's never worked that way before, ever. You just click on My Favorites and what you've tagged shows up in your Favorites gallery. There's no custom mods on this. You're already registered at my board, cpcmag.com.

The favorites work like I posted in my post and if I tag a photo as a favorite it most definately appears when I click MY FAVORITES so everything is working fine.

I think that that you will have my log-in information for my admin and you might want to try that. When I upgraded, the paths changed with everything so maybe it's a path issue on the left PAL which is something that I don't know how to change because I had a heck of a time even getting it back up there. So, as usual, assistance please? What I don't understand is that yours is working and mine isn't. Adding a tag or favorite isn't rocket science and a relatively easy thing to do so I'm still not sure what the deal is.

AND, can you link me to your post on my board because nobody saw it.

If you hit MY FAVORITES you get a list of your favorites and you can tag to remove them etc.

If you view a photo you can add to favorites

if you have links somewhere outside the program to things in the program that are not right then thats not a issue with our code or program.

You would need to update your links you have elsewhere.

I dont know what site we are discussing here and I dont keep site logins so I would not have any info of yours.

well without a login I cant see my favorites

anyway are you using 7.02?

If you upgraded a few months ago you could very well be running a beta software or an early 7.0

So, do you want me to make you a mock sort of log-in or how about just registering like you've done before?

Again, this is part of your code, not a special MOD written up. I am specifically talking about the PAL option where I will click on My Favorites and nothing comes up.

I never upgrade to a beta/guinea pig anything. I just upgraded 2 months ago. That's it. The upgrade caused paths to change with everything.

I just need the path or code for the PAL/template/whatever so I can fix it to redirect to a member's Favorites. It's that simple.

Several of us have spent hours on this and I've even paid a trusted and well-known coder to help me with this and he can't even find it. If you didn't code this part of PP and don't know how to fix this, then fine; but let me know who can fix it or who coded it and have them answer this question that's been lingering for over a month now and problem that I've had for over 2 months.

I haven't been the only one with this problem either with the new upgrade. I just want this fixed and the vague answers aren't doing either of us any favors. I am tired of this problem, I've paid for the software and support, and I want some solid answers to get this fixed today.

I don't mean to be rude, but put yourself in my shoes. I am frustrated, at the end of my rope with this, and frankly, I don't have the time to deal with an issue that's not mine and that I've already spent way too much time and money on in the first place that I shouldn't have.

EDITED TO ADD: I thought out of the box and fixed this in a minute. I'll start a separate post to help the others who have had this exact same problem with an upgrade.

Now since I am the person whos favorites I see a remove link.

I can remove a favorite

Now to add a favorite you simply use the normal way viewing the photo and use the add to favorites feature

I see absolutely no issues here. I dont know what your expecting to happen but a user gets to there favorites by hitting the MY FAVORITES link in the menu as it has always been.

How to Fix Your PAL Sidebar for Favs

Yep I see now your talking about a mod you did not something in our default program.

I didn't think that adding code to a PP template would be considered a mod, but I guess it is, and it makes sense, but leaves the question of why the template is there and part of PP that unless you modify it, it won't' show up. At least that's what I remembered when I first purchased for the first time over a year ago.

I'll hunt down the mod corner and see if I can move the "how to" post.

Well yes its a mod because it would not be included in our software so that's why we posted several times there appear to be no issues with the favorites in our software. I kinda had a feeling it might come down to something like this.

we too are having this issue - when members hit favorites - it marks that it was added but it's not actually SHOWING when they "view favorites"

should i just open a support ticket? We did have code modification done to a file to show only 5 layouts in the side bar there but we didn't do it - someone from photopost did it for is. could this be it?

we had also upgraded to the latest version the first week of January 2010

I have tested this feature there is no problem you can even try it here on our site. You hit add to favorites and view your favorites which is a search and it will be there.'

This user had issues she had hard coded OLD STYLE links she was trying to use. Favorites are done as a search now.

any suggestions how to possibly fix it? I realize it's working on your test - but it's not working our site... so what would you suggest as possible fix/s for our site to correct this on our site? showing me it's working your site is great to know it works but if it's not working on ours it doesn't help ):

The way favorites work is this so there is no confusion

1. I view a photo

2. I choose add to favorites under the options

3. I then on the menubar click on my favorites and it takes us to a search page like so with favorites listed

You can clearly see that one photo listed I just did it.

My suggestion would be to download 7.1 upload all the clean files except the 2 config files and install file and run any applicable upgrades.

Make sure there are no mods. You can reapply any mods afterwards but to provide support on software it must be the code we release as 99% of all issues come down to tweaks people do that break features.

The favorites feature works on every site I can point you do so your tweaks header footer have to play some issue here. You need to try removing your header footer in global options. Remove any code mods.
