SEO: Meta Name & Description Hello, I inserted a <meta name="description"> to my headtags.htm to have a meta description for Google on my homepage/indexpage. Now I realize, that this meta description appears on all pages and I have double meta descriptions on my pages. What can I do? Place the homepage meta description to some other place. Or rename the headtags.htm to headtags.php (how?) and make this entry conditionally? Case 2: Photopost takes the content of the picture description to fill the tag <meta name="description">. Okay. But if it is a looong description, the meta description gets very long. Is there a chance to limit the meta description string somewhere? Thank you in advance! Regards, Frank |
well why not just do something else. Add these lines to your index.php and place the wording you wish. Code: Content visible to verified customers only. |

well your trying to just add a meta description right. well you can simply add that one line and it will place the description you entered under index options for the seo meta tag. |

I can understand this code --> Code: Content visible to verified customers only.Code: Content visible to verified customers only. |
Do the first one it doesnt matter the first one also allows you to add a meta keywords line |
i would like to do the same but need some guidance on where in the index.php above lines need to be included? |
any comments here have since been included in any future revisions we released since this discussion since this topic is one and a half years old. |
well, how can i change the meta description and meta keywords of only the index page? |
The meta description for the index I beleive is right in the admin index options. |
interesting you are saying this. i have tried this before. when changing the description it changes the title tag and the description is the still the same as in the forum. |
The meta description is whatever you write there of that I am certain it is how it is designed. |
again, i can confirm chaning the description text changes the title tag and not the description. the description is still getting pulled from the forum description. |
what version of the software are you using? I show the description gets added to the forum description meta tag in vb. |
backend shows current version 7.1 |
well like I said you can show a url here so I can see your page source etc |
