Photos Ascending Automatically

Hello PP community!

I bought the license months ago but just starting to have time to modify and play with it. The issue I have is probably quite simple and I am probably overlooking this some where. However I would appreciate a hand out.

Whenever in the categories, the pictures that were uploaded last show as first.

I want the "first pictures" I started uploading to be shown first. Is there something in the admin or somewhere I can set so ALL users are displayed the way I want?

I know the end user can modify the search settings themselves, however not all end user will know or realize the photos are going in a backwards direction...

Thanks in advance for your help.

In Admin => Edit Categories for your categories you can set the sort order to what you wish. Maybe Latest would work for you.

Thats the problem, its showing the recently uploaded photos rather then showing from the beginning of the photo set.

Say for instance you take 100 photos in a weeks time span. You put it all in a sub > sub > category but the last days showing first, and the first days of the week are in the last.

I want the first day photos to show upfront automatically.

I searched the forums and seen how you mentioned to edit the showgallery.php from ASC to DESC and so on, but I tried and non worked.

I can usually fix issues like these on my own.
I am left scratching my head on this one.

Also my flash uploader has some issues. Keeps failing, giving off an error code in red and goes back to new state. Then the regular uploader, if you upload one too many pics, it will just reset and not upload anything at all. No error messages, nothing. Therefore I am stuck uploading 3-5 pics at a time. CONSUMING a lot of my time :-(

Thanks again in advance for your help.

well there is no sort oldest first.

You could try adding a sort in phpmyadmin to your sort table like so and set your categories to the new sort

Code:

hah, I love you man!!

I couldn't figure out how to insert a new one in phpmyadmin so I just edited the "latest" from DESC to ASC and wa la, the complete site is fixed!!

It actually works out the best this way since all 25+ categories are on "latest" anyways. It'd take a lot of time to modify them ALL manually.

About the uploader, any ideas?

MOD SECURITY, is there any benefits having this? Sounds important, haha.

Also how about the regular uploader when I try to do like 10 pics or 5mb worth of pics and it shits out? I have my settings in the admin 80,000 x 80,000 width / height and 1.6 million kb max upload size :-p quality setting for resizing/thumbs 70

What do you think it is?

First off lets disect this some. There are numerous threads on upload issues.

Your maximum kilobyte allowed image can only be the size of your php setting for the max upload size usually 2mb

If your maximum image width and dimensions are set to 800 and 800 that is reasonable.

GD2 does not handle large images well. You will never be able to upload a 5mb image if your php max upload is 2mb.

I dont know what you mean by shits out so please list your exact error thanks

user gets error while uploading photos

I was serious at 80,000 pixel width and height...not 800x800 ;-)

I didn't know whether this was causing it or not.

I am using IMageMagick.

About the 2MB PHP max. Where can I go to modify this?

By shits out, it simply reloads the page as if nothing happened. No error message, nothing.

Then I restart the upload process with half the quantity of pics before hand.

attila the settings in admin upload control panel are in KB not bytes so they should be 800 x 800 which translates to bytes

Okay there is no error then your simply trying to upload a file larger than your server's PHP allows. You need to edit your php settings on the server in the php.ini file and change the max uploadable filesize variable. You may or may not have the ability to do this.

I have my own server. Will email my web host asking them to up my php ini file.

Thanks for walking me through this and pointing me the right direction. If you're ever in Shenzhen, China, let me know and will buy you a beer. And or give you tips or pointers where to go, stay, stuff like that.

Am curious though, are you the owner or ?
