Index Thumb for top level category?

Hello,

I have some top level categories I use to sort my event photos. Ex: 2009 events and then I have subcats for all the different events. In the admincp if I select "contains thumbnails" to yes for 2009 events, the look is much much cleaner on the index. If I set "contains thumbnails" to no, it looks like the 2008 events (see image).

Can I have an index thumb from one of the sub albums if I want to have the cleaner look? I don't want to upload a pic to the top level cat 2009 events since there are not supposed to be photos in the sorting categories.

I am not sure what your asking.

A category that contains no image can not have a category avatar. You can set whatever avatar you wish for subcategories by tagging an image in that category as its avatar.

The preferred look for most customers is the unclean look as you call it as personally the clean look for a top level category is to set contains thumbs to no because then it looks like a category header.

I wanted the category with the clean look (contains thumbnails) to inherit an index thumb from one of its subcategories. Having one image in the category just for the thumbnail seems a bit odd but I understand.

Thanks Chuck.

You can move a photo to the top level tag it then move it back to the subcat
