Show Last Comments column on Index?

In the 'index option' part of the admintools, there's this Show Last Comments column on Index? option. I enabled it, but I don't get a column in the gallery index where the latest comments are shown.

Where do you get to see the last comments and how does that supposed to look like?

Chuck S March 19th, 2010 09:03 AM

Do you have permissions set up in admin options that users can post comments?

tcbworld March 20th, 2010 10:12 AM

Yes, everyone (besides banned members) are able to comment on pictures.

How does that 'latest comments' column suppose to look like? I hope it's not the same as that 'latest comments' [u[block[/u]?

I wanted to know somtehing simulair, in gallery view you have it all nice with number of comments under the thumbnail. I would like that view on the gallery index page, also when you view like last 7 days i need that to be the same also. And then not show the categorie listing on the index. Is that Possible ?

Chuck S March 20th, 2010 05:57 PM

tcb if I visit your gallery you have your category permissions set so guests can not view ANY content in your gallery just an FYI

The category index always displays on the index

You can only turn on or off the sidebar content.

Mannie_F March 21st, 2010 03:12 AM

i will have to look at the permissions again then, thought i had set it that guests could not post. The categorie index i did not see on that reeferfish site though. will look at my permissions and get back to you.

Edit
I just logged out and could see evertything. So i don't know what you mean

What i mean was all images on the index, or when you click like 7 days has the custom view like in the attachement

Chuck S March 21st, 2010 06:49 AM

If you click on a search term your going to go to the search script not a category view.

Search - ReefTalk Gallery

Thats not the search displays like so

Mannie_F March 21st, 2010 07:06 AM

for one with the search it almost looks like that, but there isn't all the indormation, like the comments in the box under the thumbnails arent there. What i wanted to know was if it was possible to show it like in the thumbnail on both the search and index

Chuck S March 21st, 2010 07:47 AM

Mannie those are different scripts and coded differently

The stuff not displayed on search are like views filesize rating etc

Mannie_F March 21st, 2010 07:54 AM

hmm, not sure you can see this without being registered, Innertraveler Art Gallery - All Images They have it like that. and at my gallery the search is like this Search - Pixelnutz Gallery

tcbworld March 21st, 2010 08:16 AM

On this page I can see a 'last comments' column on the gallery index page: SurferMag Community Photo Gallery - Main Index - Powered by PhotoPost

How can I make this possible with my site? I did enable it in the adminpanel (like mentioned above).

When I disable the 'Do you want to enable the vB3 Integration which uses your vB3 headers, footers and styles?' option, I see the column. But it disappears as soon as I enable the function (bringing back my vbulletin integrated style).

Chuck S March 21st, 2010 08:38 AM

Innertraveler is a site using an old photopost. The way search works is how it works on the site I noted and on your site because this is how it works in 7.01. 7.01 has the SEO features and all searches need to be handled through search. There can not be multiple urls to categories and photos for SEO to work.

tcb I cant view your site to suggest anything but the site you note is a default photopost setup. You have to allow comments and under index options you elect to show the last comments column. Thats the long and short of it.

You would have to post a test login for someone to see your content so we can see what you have set incorrectly.

tcbworld March 21st, 2010 08:50 AM

But why is the 'latest comments column' showing when I tick off the vb3-styles integration (see post 12), and why does it disappear when I enable it?

Of course I enabled the option to show the column in the first place (see post 1).

Everyone but unregistered are allowed to post comments.

I don't see that 'latest comments' column on your gallery index. Did you manage to get it to work? I think it's just not possible, despite my settings?

Does anyone has this column enabled (and visible) with the vbulletin style integrated (as with Chuck's site)?

Chuck S March 21st, 2010 08:55 AM

Ah okay your running vb4. That is because vb4 has a specific coded categories template based completedly on the vb4 forum layout.

A community photo gallery - ReefTalk Gallery

My site does not show a latest comments td

You can try using a categories template like this although have not personally tried this

Mannie_F March 21st, 2010 09:09 AM

Ok so far i get it. But on reefertalk what you showed me the search at least had the comment there. As you can see on my site it only shows user and date, not sure why i assume you would have the same photopost version as i got or am i mistaken ?

Chuck S March 21st, 2010 09:22 AM

well go ahead and try the template I have maybe I modified mine it is my personal site afterall ;)

Mannie_F March 21st, 2010 09:33 AM

Almost, it has a field with comments. But there are no numbers showing for comments.

Chuck S March 21st, 2010 09:37 AM

Again maybe I have modified my script to do something the default script doesnt do it is my personal site

The search script shows as your default script shows its not going to show like older versions your linking show.
