Member Galleries not sortable

When viewing a member's gallery there are no options to sort the photos posted. They're sorted by oldest to newest.

Why is this?

beerbeer Gallery - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Thanks.

The sort works in Categories, like the one you've linked to there, but not for member galleries, like the one I've linked in the OP.

Also, is there a place to define default sort order? All member galleries should display sorted by "Date Posted" ordered "Descending" - that would make a number of my issues go away.

Thanks,

- Mick

Okay, I've figured it out (I think)

If the URL specifies cat=500 the sort options don't seem to work.

Compare with cat=500 -

ceevee Gallery - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

To without:

- Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

A bug?

Maybe I am not seeing something obvious but it seems to sort for me

It's not obvious, but you are missing something. It wasn't clear to me either until this post from you.

Just one second, will update when I've figured out how to best explain this.

Start here:

Members Galleries - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Select any member's gallery below:

Ramona35 Gallery - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

If you click any Sort options and you're NOT LOGGED IN it jumps you to another category and display's the user's stuff in that category:

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

- note that this URL contains one cat=500 and one cat=3467 - cat 3467 is the default in the "quick jump" dropdown in the sort options box.

Now if I'm logged in and try the same experiment, I stay in the User's gallery, and the sort takes no effect:

Ramona35 Gallery - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Again it says cat=500 in the URL twice.

Something screwy is going on. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

And is there a way to force a default sort order? In the absence of sortby, sorttime & way can I have the thing assume sortby=d&sorttime=9999&way=desc ?

Thats the user I picked

I pick a sort order number of thumbs to show and I get this

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

I have now posted like 3 separate examples all appears to be working for me. Of course all along I am just a guest so I am logged out

As I said, this is a problem when you're logged in.

Though it's not necessary to be logged in to prove that there's a problem - a couple actually.

Simply look at this URL, the sort arguments listed in it, and look at the order in which things are being displayed and that's it - bug confirmed.

Ramona35 Gallery - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

sortby=d
sorttime=9999
way=desc
ppuser=5099
cat=500

Compare with:

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

sortby=d
sorttime=9999
way=desc
ppuser=5099
cat=3467

Note that the first is listed Ramona35 Gallery and the second is listed as "Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products"

So there are the following well defined problems here:

1) Sorting doesn't work in member galleries

2) If you're not logged in when you try to change your sorting options on a member gallery you're directed to another gallery instead

3) For some reason adjusting sort options cause cat to be set twice, and appear in the URL twice - whichever one appears last in the URL will be taken as the assigned category

Feel free to register an account if you like Chuck, I don't know if I can be any clearer in explaining this.

Hi Chuck?

Is there a more formal process for submitting a bug report I should be following or is the information provided here enough to get this resolved?

Thanks.

If you wish to post a user login please do

I will post once again. I am posting galleries that are smaller so you can see they change order easily and will once again post links

Jeanette Gallery - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Now I select filename and they sort fine

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

I now do last comment and they are sorted correctly once again

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Now I hit views and then sort

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

I understand what your trying to say thats not the issue. The issue here is your trying to report an issue and I am using your own site as an example showing the sort works fine that I am seeing. Clearly the urls I have outlined above shows those same 7 photos by that one user i selected to begin with is being sorted over and over again correctly with the sort you select.

So what I really am trying to understand here given I am showing your site is working fine what you think is not.

I know your saying the cat variable changes

Now lets take your example. Here is Ramonas gallery

- Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

I hit to sort by views

- Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Thats why I get and now lets try filename

- Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

I get the same 278 photos sorted correctly so if your changing the quick sort box then you are affecting your results because regularly sorting a members gallery the quick cat box says CUSTOM VIEW which translates into all and as you see by my urls which are straight sorts from your site things work.

Every time you post an example of how it's working fine, you're further illustrating the part that's broken.

Take a look at your own posts on this thread, compare the title of the page you start on with the title of the page after you sort. You're being redirected to a new category.

All categories sort fine EXCEPT CAT 500 - the member's category. For whatever reason if you're not logged in you get redirected to a new category when you try the sort - that's bug #1.

If you are logged in, you don't get redirected and the sort just doesn't work - bug #2.

I'll PM you a login so you can further explore this yourself, but all the supporting information you need is already right here.

That's not my example though - your URL says username=ramona35 and ppuser=5099 - I don't know what sequence of clicks brought you to this URL, but it's not the issue I'm describing here.

The issue I'm describing occurs when you follow a link to a member's gallery out of the Member Index. The link you're taken to would be ppuser=5099 and cat=500.

The link I am coming from is the members gallery. This is what I have been saying all along. Your telling me the members galleries are not sortable yet they are.

The only issue your really reporting it seems is your quick cat is throwing in that cats id in the url

However it doesnt seem to affect any of the sorts

Evasek Gallery - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

Layouts Created with Scrapbookgraphics Products - Scrapbookgraphics.com Gallery

A bug would constitute the gallery not sorting or other photos besides the members photos appearing in there. However from what I am seeing as seen in all the examples I am posting only that members photos appear and are indeed sorted correct.

Skitch.com > mszucs > Member Galleries not sortable - PhotoPost Community

See highlighted sections. This behaviour a) is not desirable and b) doesn't happen when you're logged in.

Check your PM for a test account in a minute.

You can send us logins through the contact us link in the header.

What I am saying here is I am responding to the topic you opened. You have stated that you can not sort a members gallery.

I have over and over again using urls on your site shown that the members gallery does sort fine from what I see regardless of some quicksort cat in the url so yes I would need to see a url to comment further as I need to see how you have things set because your quick sort should actually say CUSTOM VIEW as I showed before
