For some reason, when I turn on this option, it shows 10 thumbnails instead of the usual 5. I really only want 4, I'd like to take out the middle of the usual 5, but I have TEN! Any idea how to fix?

Your probally electing to show 3 rows.
This feature can have up to 7 photos per row and thats not configurable.
You can elect to show the block or not.
You can elect to set it to show on top bottom left or right
You can elect to set 1 row or 3 rows
These settings are in Admin => Show Photo Options

Right thats fine but you might want to set the block to display on left or right if your using a restricted site width

But why are there like 8 images up there? What does setting it to 1 or 3 rows do? I don't want it on the side, is there no other option?

As stated in my first reply there is no setting to set the thumbnail per row in the next prev image block on showphoto
It is set to 7 images per row

Okay, I was just hoping I could edit some code somewhere and change it from 7. It seems like that should be a setting we could change as so many are going with fixed width designs it makes that option useless for many users.
