Limit description text displayed in search results?

Hi Everyone (again)

Can't find other reference to this on the forums so I'm hoping that there's a setting someplace I'm overlooking.

Is there a way to limit the amount of description text that displays when search results are returned?

You can see a sample of the formatting trouble I'm having here:

It would be better if the display blocks were all the same size, and the description text was limited to some configurable amount or omitted entirely.
