Allow users to be notified of new posts via email not working

I have Allow users to be notified of new posts via email? set to YES yet users are not receiving any notifications. Is there somewhere I am missing to configure SMTP server settings?

are you getting notifications? your server simply needs to allow php mail. If your server has specific settings you need to do to make that work you might need to contact your host.

all we use is the simple php mail() function
