php 5.3.1 ereg_replace()

I am running Photopost Pro 6.2 and following an upgrade to php 5.3.1 have a number of deprecated function issues as noted by some of the others on the forum. The error messages display when uploading images. Here are the code lines that I think are causing the problem.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
and

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Is there a fix/replacement for the ereg_replace function that gets rid of the errors? What problems might I encounter if the display php errors are turned off so the issue is at least invisible?

Thanks,
Larry

If that will fix the problems, I will figure a way to upgrade.

The current version was initially integrated with VB but I have since turned off the integration and I am not using VB any longer. Is there a problem upgrading photopost without VB - just using the Forum database? If there is not a problem, I should be able to upgrade.

Not sure what you mean by just using the vb database but your gallery should work just like it does not as long as you have not modified code to do something different that it was programmed to do.
