Question Manual index thumbs change when new pic uploaded?

Hi,

I have a problem with one of the PP installations

Car Pictures & Wallpapers - Auto & Car Photos Gallery

I had logos of each auto make as INDEX THUMB of the category but since I updated to the latest version, the index thumbs have started to disappear as we are adding new pictures.

Whenever new picture is uploaded to any of the sub-categories, the index thumb for the main category disappears and latest uploaded picture becomes the thumb for main category.

How do I prevent this from happening?

If I upload to

Honda >> Accord

I want the index thumbnail of Accord category changed but not of Honda.

Please help.

Thanks

I do not see anywhere in our code that we set a parent categories thumbnail. The only way we set a catavatar on a category is IF you upload to a category that has no category thumbnail set and we only set that specific category your uploading to.

This is the code in image-inc.php

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
You can clearly see we only setup the query to set the thumbnail on only that specific category and only if the thumbnail column is 0 which means empty in image-inc.php

I have already tested this out also. I for instance am using 7.01 and have had the same category avatars set for my categories forever.

So thus this begs the question what version of the software are you using? I take it that its older. I would suggest you upgrade as am am speaking of our current software.

Chuck,

Thanks, I am using 7.01 on that website.

I have tested this as well. If I upload anything in the Home » Motorcycles » BMW » S1000RR , category, the INDEX THUMB of BMW would change to that latest pic uploaded.

Your copyright link still says 2007 on that site. I would suggest you upload all the files if you say this is 7.01. Especially image-inc.php as thats where the code in question is

Member Pics - ReefTalk Gallery

There you go I uploaded right now 3 pictures to the member pic cat. The thumbnail there has no change to it still the old manually set index thumb it always has been.

Now since I am using the vb4 cats template there is no showing avatar for any parent cat but I did check both my database but even more so when into admin edit categories where you can view your cat thumbnail and I viewed my parent reeftalk gallery cat and this is what I see

Thumbnail for Main Index: none

Chuck,

Thanks. Your link also says 2007 in copyright... I will try and replace image-inc.php or all files and see if that fixes the issue.

Thanks!

Let me know I can only assume this is an issue with an older file that has never been replaced.

Exclamation

I downloaded fresh pp copy and replaced the file from that but it didn't help. See attached images...

As you can see, I uploaded a test image in sub-category but all categories ended up with same index-thumb and also the main category on homepage changed its index thumb from bmw logo to the test image.

Should I replaced ALL of the files?

If I where you I would replace all files and also verify the files on the server are being overwritten.

The code as I noted above is very specific. Your cat thumbnail is only going to be updated if it is empty which means set to 0. Any category that has a thumbnail would not be updated and likewise any categories parent is NEVER updated.

Well, I replaced all of the files but same result.

I am not sure if you looked at the attachments... but after uploading the "new" files, same thing happened.

I am not sure whats going on... I will install it in test environment and see if anything changes.

thanks

As always you can send full site details through the contact us link for us to look at it.

The code that changes the thumbnail is absolutely in image-inc.php and it only does it if your thumbnail row is 0.

I beleive I showed you a link to my site and an example. You can login with testman and testing and test for yourself you will see I am telling the truth on how the code works.

I know you have been around awhile and have a basic understanding of PHP.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
That is quite absolute above. $morestuff is an empty variable and only contains the variable to update the thumbnail if the categories thumbnail equals 0
