| sort gallery feature not working
Have no clue what happened, but the past 2 days I can no longer sort photos from the options on the page.
I chose, sort by views, Sort order Descending With Titles.
No matter what I choose, nothing happens???
this is the result I get each and every time.

no, nothing changed. It worked one day then didnt work the next.
I even went into the PP Admin area to set the default to see if it had anything to do with it

Well the reason I ask is I have tested sorting on a default gallery with no changes and it works fine.
Try this. Turn your SEO to on and test does the sort work?

The only thing different I did with PP was turn on the voting option that I mentioned before. It wouldn't have been that would it?

Well if all your categories are voting categories I could see this because voting categories are specific set to a sort they are locked into that sort.

what sort are they locked into?
Seems kind of strange that it would be locked. People view those all week long and some change their sort depending on how they need to view them. It also allows to sort by rating which is what the voting is isnt it? or is that just the 1-10 rating?

No its not stranged they are locked into a sort
Voting is specifically set to specific sorts Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
I believe it is set when the voting is ended etc to MOST POPULAR

Can I end the voting and enable it again and still not lose the votes that were there?
I have a feeling the users might not like the fact they can no longer sort within the contest which is the most popular place on the website.

Sure you only lose votes when you hit clear votes but as stated as long as the category is set to be voting category its going to follow the specific sorts that the developer has setup the application to work.

During voting, sorting is RANDOM and when its done, sorted by highest votes. It's just always been that way since we released it.

Thanks Michael. I've been a member of the website I now own since 2003. But the previous owner only used the rating option and never the vote option, so this is my first experience with it as is with a lot of our members.
The sort doesnt seem to be random each time. It seems to choose a sort and stick to it.
Am I going to have problems later tonight when I have to move all the photos all the photos into an archive category that is not set for voting?
Wasn't sure if anything would be effected as in will the votes dissappear?

If you move photos into a category that is not setup for voting or change a category back to regular ratings not vote your sort options will work.
Possibly in the future what we could do is actually hide that entire sort box if the category is a voting category that might eleviate some of the misunderstanding.

it might also tick off the users if they can't sort lol. I'll probably start getting questions as to why they dont see the sort option anymore in the contest. A few of them have pm'd me since yesterday wondering why they can't sort.
I was thinking, that if I continue to use the vote option, to only have it activated the last 2 days of the week so they can vote which will allow them to sort the 1st 5 days of the week.

guess what, I have a category I named Finalists that I had set last week to vote just to test it.
so I clicked on End Voting to see if I could then sort, and I still can't sort or change my gallery view in any way like just with thumbs, or with titles etc.
The whole gallery is stuck permanently. Who do I undo this? Finalists 01-15-10 to 01-21-10 - BytePhoto Galleries |

If your going to have a category set to voting does not matter if its enabled ended or active the sorts are locked into either random or most popular depending on the voting action.
