| pictures in newly created category not showing
Not sure why I have this problem each week. But, when I copy the 16 finalist photos to the Finalist category for that week, then go back to view them all so I can create the voting poll in the forum, none of the thumbnails show up. So far, I should have 8 photos copied into the category below Finalists 01-29-10 to 02-05-10 - BytePhoto Galleries
Also, just noticed that all the finalist pictures dont show up for any in January
The parent category shows how many images, but when you click each, only 1 shows up? 2010 January POTW Finalists - BytePhoto Galleries |

I know, you saw them last time too, but not sure why I never see them.
I checked to be sure all the user groups I wanted to be able to view can view the pictures and all were set correctly.
See if you can see this option. I set the voting for the first time directly in the contest upload category. I then enabled it, but looking at a picture, I can't see any option to vote for it ?? Shenandoah Dream - BytePhoto Galleries |

hmm let me check my cache, that could be it.
Yep, figured out that it was on the category level. But thought I could view an individual picture to vote for it, then realized I saw the vote option only in the thumbnails.
Guessing I can't see who voted for which image?
Also noticed that you can't vote for your own image which is good. I was thinking to ask users to vote for a picture they thought should be in the finals.
I have 16 finalists in 4 categories each week and the POTW voting is done via a forum poll post. But since everyone can see how many votes are giving as they are cast, not sure if that will skew who they choose.
I also don't want people creating accounts just so they can vote for their friend to be in the finals. If I can't see who voted, then it could be a problem. Just thinking how there were problems a couple years back when the previous owner ran the website.

is there a way to make the voting count only seen by the admin then later revealed?
ok, let me rephrase that I don't think there is currently an option in the front end menu's.... but... is there a way to change any coding that will allow for that option

If you changed your coding in some way I am sure however we dont support code modifications and assisting users in coding mods is not within product support.

ok, thanks. Was just curious if it was even an option. Sometimes the way code is written, its easy to change and other times its more of an overhaul of an area.
Would be something nice for a future upgrade to give admins the option for users to view immediately or wait until the admins reveal the count results.
I think that's one reason why a lot of photo sites like to use polls in VBulletin for contest voting instead of using the PP vote option.
The ratings 1-10 is ok to use, but in most cases I have found members get quite upset if they get a 7 or below. So that's why I don't choose that option. Helpful critiques work much better than a number rating in most photographers eyes. |
