Thumbs only in Show Gallery

I've realized that I like the large amount of thumbnails that were created on the showphoto page (3 rows of 7) but I don't like them there.

Instead, I'd like to have something quite close to that on the show gallery page. Lots of thumbs, no details, no column and row dividers, just thumbnails.

I seem to recall that is (was?) an option? If so, where do I change the setting?

You mean the thumbnails only or puzzle layouts in admin edit categories for your default layout?

Yes, that's it, couldn't recall where it was located.

One more question. Is there any way to get rid of the boxes around the thumbnails? When they were preview photos, they bunched together nice and close, which I liked. No lines, no cell padding, just a small gap between thumbs. That's the look I want...

In the gallery, there is a lot of white space around them.

Thats something else those are preview thumbnails not the thumbnails we where talking about.

You could try looking at the html in the filmstrip templates it really hasnt changed much.

I realize the ones in the image are the preview thumbs, I was simply saying I liked that layout/look and was wondering if there was an easy way to duplicate it in the category section.

The closest thing to that is going to be the thumbnail only look.
