7.01 film strip

Why does the film strip in 7.01 show so many photos? How can I change the number it shows (on showphoto), and how can I remove the film strip altogether?

You can set whether there is 1 or 3 rows of photos in admin show photo options. You can set whethers its top bottom left or right as always and of course in those same admin options you can turn off that strip should you wish.

This was an intended addition to the program.

How do I turn it off? I don't see that option at all.

Admin => Show Photo Options => Enable next and previous photo previews?

Okay, good. But actually I want the previews, I just don't want so many images showing. I want the previews on top, but I want only three max images shown. How do I do that?

Chuck S January 30th, 2010 01:46 PM

There is no setting to do that in the program.

In 6.2 the program showed 4 image previews max. There's no way to get the old behavior back?

Chuck S January 30th, 2010 01:55 PM

No there is not. The previous block I beleive showed 5 images and the new one shows 7

The 7 image preview is not acceptable because it messes up the overall width of our site. I would think ultimate flexibility should be key in an add-on such as this to allow for proper integration.

Chuck S January 30th, 2010 02:01 PM

You can set those blocks to the left or right of an image or turn them off on a width restricted site.

Maybe if I set the thumbnails to be smaller: what size are your thumbnails here:

slackwarehomer - PhotoPost Photo Gallery

And if I change the size, do I have to re-generate? How is that done?

jdougher January 30th, 2010 05:12 PM

Also what is your max allowable image height and width?

Chuck S January 30th, 2010 06:10 PM

thumbnails here are 100pixels.

max width and height for what? That would depend on what you want.

Yeah, the 7-pic film strip makes sense with 100 pix thumbs, but those are too small for us. Increasing the thumbs to 200 pix, which is where we want them, makes the 7-pic strip too long for our design. So isn't there a way to get the 3- or 5-pic strip? That's what we need.

Chuck S January 30th, 2010 06:39 PM

There is no way as in a setting to do that as previously answered in my previous responses.

How about a hack to the code?

Chuck S January 30th, 2010 07:14 PM

Correct not unless you hack your code in some way!!

Actually I was asking you how to hack the code. I'm not a programmer.

Chuck S January 30th, 2010 08:22 PM

Sorry we only support the code as its written. We do not assist customers in hacking the code.

Chuck, I would like this to be something that you guys look at for the future. You already know that we worked on a fixed width for our site, which makes that many thumbs to many (stretches the width) and if we try to do it on the right hand side, then there is a HUGE gap that you have to scroll through to get just to the comment area. There should be some wiggle room with this, which there was before with the hack... and for us, we had to just turn it off because neither areas would be acceptable. I hate to lose that functionality, but there wasn't really an option otherwise.
