Categories - how many to choose at upload

I searched the board and can't seem to find where I need to change this.

Also checked in PP and found where I say yes or no and could have sworn that in the past the next option under it was how many categories.

I'm still trying to get a handle on the category concept.
Here are some of my questions:
  1. If I don't allow users to choose a category, then does that mean if they upload it to the contest category, it automatically is placed in their member gallery?

  2. If I set the categories to 2 at upload, and the user selects 2 at upload, does that mean I can not add that photo to more categories as the admin? as in Contest archives, POTW Finalist, POTW Winner etc? I have noticed that if the user already has 2 categories, then if I copy their picture to another category, it doesn't always show up in the additional category.

  3. It looks like Categories is a global option and can't be set for only admins?

Here you can see the top category lists 7 images.

But when you click that link, you only see the one image I placed there and not the 6 other finalists I copied the picture to that specific category?

1. well you have to allow users access to some category doesnt matter if its one or not. The photo is going to appear whereever they upload it based on the permissions you give.

2. This all depends on if you allow additional categories in upload options. You can choose a total of 2 additional cats plus the original cat.

3. You got it users can only create albums if you allow. You setup cats.

strange, I am now on my laptop logged in as the same user account as I was upstairs on my desktop.
The link above, which finally showed my 16 photos does not show them while logged in on my laptop. I'm baffled?

Not wanting to butt in where Chuck does such a fine job, but saw this while browsing the latest posts... Sometimes hitting the browser refresh button by itself doesn't do it. Try pressing F5 on the keyboard, it always does the trick for me, it seems to do a hard refresh.

sometimes also if your cache is really persistent you need to go in where it is stored on your disk and delete all the temp data.
