how not to view sub categories on a page

I accidentally set my sub categories to view instead of just the parent cats until you click on them. I did it a few days ago and darn if I can find where I made that change. I searched the forums for sub categories and can't seem to locate an answer. Where do I change it back again?
I remember it being a yes or no answer.

You can set your catdepth under admin index options to 0 if you only want parent cats on the front index page

I think the fact that I thought it was a y/n answer, was why I kept missing it within the menus. The admin index area was the first place I had checked.
