Photopost integration with simple forum

I have used forums and coppermine integrated before and I did not like it. The user admin stuff went to the forum and left me hating that I made the change. I would love to find a simple forum that just uses the photopost security login and password from that pp_users table and nothing else is needed. In other words. I could install a forum and then tell it to use the security in photopost for access. So that they are technically two different products and not a meshed product working together. Do you know of any way to do this currently. My site Astronomy Astrophotography Galaxy Nebula Astrophoto Gallery - Astrophotogallery is about photos first and forum is a second by much less used functionality. I just need basic forums like different categories and thats pretty much all I need. I wish you included this with your message board, but I do understand why you dont. Any ideas on what I could use without loosing the photo post that I like a lot.

sorry all our integrations are with the forum logins because thats how it has to be written. we cant claim integration with a product without integrating with the product. For an forum to integrate or claim to integrate with our product the reverse would be true they would need to integrate with our logins etc but sadly this is not the way things are done.

just seems backwards from my perspective. the purpose of my site is the photos otherwise there would be nothing to chat about. my main point though is i dont want to integrate because then i have to worry about two different products and upgrading and other issues. it would be so much simpler if there was a forum i could just tack on without changing security in photopost and without having a different login for the forum. the thing i hated about coppermine was that i like the admin functionality in it, and when i integrated it i lost a lot of the things i liked and the site was no longer photo centric but forum centric.

well in a community site which is the main target the forum is the main target thats just how it is. You can think thats backwards but I can tell ya our product would not be where it is today without that thinking. I think we have a very nice product and one of the main draws people have to us is we integrate with like 20 different product logins out there. That being said that means we login with there users not the other way around.
