How does the Display keywords work?

I am wondering how the Display keywords works.

If I disable it in Show Photo Options does is it disabled all to geather?

I have noticed that If I disable keywords I can not edit them later on, and they are not shown on a new photo upload.

So do search engins not pick them up?

Correct if you disable keywords nothing is shown

not sure about search engines they have there own formats i beleive thats meta keys etc
