Members can edit/delete photos until X time

I had an old time member who was posting a lot of photos and also was inserting the photos in posts via photo popup. for some reason he whipped out all his albums and now i have like 1000 posts with broken links which i have to delete.

how can i make the members to be able to edit/delete their pics for 1 week or so but after that they wont to ensure my website content and prevent such actions in the future ? this is must for every site owner

You must not allow users to have personal albums then because the sheer nature of personal albums means they have full control over them meaning they can delete them at any time.

You can prevent them from deleting individual photos by the setting in admin options in admin for move/delete however them deleting a personal album trumps everything meaning if they delete a personal album the photos are deleted just like if you where to delete a category of photos.

Thats the real issue so the answer is really no you can not prevent users from deleting their own personal albums. You can only protect the categories of photos in the main gallery.

members should have personal albums. photopost needs a setting like After how many hours/days/weeks/ can a user delete/edit an album/photo. it has the same feature for the photo comments, also members should be able edit/delete a photo for x ammount time in case they upload wrong img or put wrong title/desc etc

Hello

You can make any suggestions features you wish in the suggestions forum.

I beleive comments already have an edit timeframe feature. As far as photos you can enable users not to delete them but that is not your issue to a degree.

Your issue is a user deleted his personal album which is his right. You would have much the same effect on your forum if you deleted a category or if you moved alot of photos to another category.

Essentially all those are nice feature suggestions and please make them but links posted on a persons forum we have no control over since given the gallery is dynamic content where you can move around users can or can not delete move you delete move etc links change so broken links will always be apart of things. We can only control how things work on our end.

Forums use to allow script links for images where you did not have to worry about broken links but they did away with that along time ago.

Moderate on or off thats moderation of both. There is no separate permissions for these actions.

its not exactly users right to delete their albums for the same reason i am not allowed to delete my posts here in this forum after x time. so the site owner to secure the site's content. right chuck ?

especially when those albums didnt contain personal pics but they were assigned to categories.

i expect from the photopost team to give us the option allow users to edit/delete photo AND to edit/delete album for a specific time

This is a matter of opinion really and not the intended action in the product the way you want it that is. This is how it works and how Michael coded it and the permissions.

1. You as admin can setup categories and set permissions on how users can delete edit view place photos comments in your categories etc thats how things work and you know how all these work. I know you do.

2. Users remember only if you allow them to create personal albums can create albums or assign them to categories etc. Now this is where the confusion here is on your part. As far as personal albums are concerned you dont own them. The user does. They are infact the admin of those and can administer them as they see fit.

Thats the real difference here. You can a user delete his personal album well in the program he is allowed to do that. If you do not want users to create albums which they have total control over then you may remove the permission in edit usergroups for users to not create any new albums. Force them to upload to categories you allow and control.

Your suggestions are all good suggestions. Feel free to make any suggestions in the suggestions forum you wish.

Your comparison to permissions in a forum does not really jive with the discussion here on personal albums since a forum does not have anything remotely like this.

test - PhotoPost Photo Gallery

The category sort is not really for the filmstrip persay. There are many different things in the program that can change a filmstrip or define how that shows. So knowing how you are accessing things can explain why you get certain results.

You can place a link to your site for me to see if I see anything out of whack.
