| vB Albums
Got the email today about the new feature about using vBGallery for vB Albums.
Does that also work if we have PP Pro?

I would have to ask Michael if there would in the future be such a feature. I know the email we send today was strickly about vbGallery.

Well as stated the work here done thus far is with vbGallery which was the product that was in beta and is now released as final hense the email and the offer.
Once Photopost Pro our flagship product goes into a beta cycle where the developer is actively working on it you can most likely see something like this done for that product.

Like I've stated in other threads, this is what I've come to expect from PP. No new features for Pro.

Sorry but I can not really agree with that. 6.1 which was released a year ago or so had alot of new features. 6.2 added one or two new features as well as updated support for the flash uploader.
This is a list of features I think added since 6.1 so this is all in the past year or just over.
New Features
. Changed buttons on showphoto to be an admin option to display text/buttons
. Auto index thumbnails - uses first photo uploaded to category as a default thumbnail for category
. Added category name and link to the featured photos box
. Made "email a friend" an option which can be disabled
. CAPTCHA verification for anonymous/guest posts
. RSS feeds to include subcategories
. Improved "tag photo" feature
. "Zoom lens" integration (can be turned off and on in admin)
. Scan DB enhanced to add "reset category avatar" option
. Changed # of Images link in uploadphoto to a link which can be used to process only images already in a users queue
. Added support for Flash Uploader (disabled by default, not supported by PhotoPost, but be enabled)
. Added Paid Subscriptions
. Improved Show Photo page (for vB3 integrations a new drop-down menu)
. Cosmetic changes
. Bug fix rollups

The vbalbums fix as you call it is not really a fix at all because obviously we have no control over the vbulletin core code or how they code there features. What Michael has done is simply write an importer to import the albums content into vbGallery.
I would expect something like this will be released for Photopost Pro as well but as stated you have to allow the software to go through a development cycle. We have just wrapped up the vbGallery beta cycle. Once Pro goes into beta I am sure you will probally see something like this.

Paul,
I can not even speculate at this point since vbGallery just came out of beta today. We have had though 5 Photopost Pro releases of sorts in the past year though.
I would expect a beta to be opened in a relatively short amount of time since we do constantly develop. As with any beta software we can not say when a final would be released.

I'm also anxiously waiting for this. I mentioned this feature immediately after Vb came out with their albums. Can't wait for Pro to integrate better with the latest Vb.

I'll work on the importer for PRO as well; had to pick one product to start with and vBGallery was next up for an update.

so is it worth staying on photopost pro or changing over to vbgallery? What are the benefits of photopost pro now that vbgallery has had this update?

I was wondering this as well, and was just about to send in an email asking many of these very questions. I agree with the statement that such new features should be brought to the flagship product before releasing them on a slimmed down version.
I've been wrangling with what to do about the new vB albums versus the PhotoPost Pro Gallery we've been running with for years...

For a while the complaints were that we weren't updating vBGallery; the FLASH uploader did go to PRO first and then was released for vBGallery. I simply started working on the importer while doing the vBGallery update.

I'm confused about this as well. Primarily because I am a Pro subscriber (have been for years) and this email was sent to me. The new features sounded exciting enough to warrant another subscription and download for my version of pro.
My suggestion to minimize confusion since these are separate products:
1 - Only send vBGallery announcements to vBGallery users.
or
2 - Modify your process to update both versions of the software when you make changes like this.
Since I am a customer paying more money, I assumed that I would get all of the VBGallery features in addition to the extra features in PRO.
Mike

1. Photopost and vbGallery are separate products or code branchs but not separate licenses therefore there is no way to do that. Users have the right to run one or the other product but not both.
2. Two different code branches means this type of thing is not possible considering both products are not going to be in beta at the same time. Not to say some features from the two products might not make it into the other just saying that it wont be at the same time given they are not being developed at the same time.
The email clearly stated what product the email was about so sorry you thought it was a little confusing but it did say vbGallery 2.5.

Hi Chuck,
Any update on that? I think it is a top requirement for photopst pro to integrate better with VBulletin.
Thanks,
Jean-Paul
