Mod privileges How To

I have a VB group for Gallery Admins. I have given the PP Gallery Admins group the "Moderator" permission. However, none of these people are able to create an index thumbnail. The only way I can figure that out is to make them full admins, which isn't something I want to do. Am I missing something?

Certain things like index thumb require admin permissions not moderator permissions thus only way around this would be you modifying showphoto.php and altering the code.

hmmm. not very granular are they. :(

Not really sure what you mean there. Mods have certain permissions like approving photos moving photos to categories they are assigned to. They do not have administration permissions to perform actions only mods have access to. Only admins can create categories thus setting a category avatar is an admins job.

Well I'm sure that was a reasonable direction to go back in the beginning but is it today? What you describe is a pretty rigid way doing things thus making the permissions not very granular. It would be nice to be able to add masks to individuals or similar to VB have an admin and super admin. There's some things that are system administration functions and shouldn't be available to admins. It's a false assumption to think otherwise. you know, Purging old photos, messing with templates things like that. But that requires you guys to change the code and not me (thus upgrading the product for the better) so I guess I'll just ahve to make them admins. :(

Of course if there was a reasonable hooks system then you\'d have a thriving third-party community that could add tons of customization that you wouldn\'t have to support.

I am only answer from the support perspective of how things work here. Your free to post suggestions for future versions in the respective suggestions forums for the product in question.
