Password protecting specific images?

Hi all,

On my site I'm going to have a "badge system" where various users can earn "graphical badges" to place in their signatures for accomplishing various tasks.

What would be the best way to display the badges in a gallery for ALL users, but only allow certain users to access those for download so they can have them to put in their signatures?

Or is there even a way or workaround?

Thanks much!
Ted

I guess that would depend on how you code your vbulletin badge system

As far as the gallery you would have to alter your get_profile_data function to pull badges or if this is some complete signature altering thing in vb you may not need to do anything in photopost.

Thanks, Chuck!

I just realized that if somebody really wanted the badge, they would just have to right-click on the image from the gallery.

I reckon I could PW protect the gallery, however, yes?

I guess I didn't make myself clear in my original post... I tend to do that! Sorry

I would simply have .png files (small badges created with Photoshop) with various messages. They look very much like those buttons one can pin on their shirts. I don't think they require coding?

It is my hope that users can place these .png images in their signatures on vBulletin. (Just using the signature feature and inserting images)...again, no coding.

My question was this: I don't want just any user to be able to access those images to install in their signatures, without meeting certain criteria (winning a contest, for example). I was hoping there was a way to password protect the image in Photopost gallery so that I can say, "Hey...congratulations on winning the Photography Contest! Go over to <gallery/image> and download the badge to put in your signature...here is the password you will need."

Hopefully that was clearer.

You dont need to use photopost for this I would think if your talking vbulletin signatures. Unless you simply are looking to place images somewhere for someone to grab.

You may need to look for some signature hack if your trying to display different signatures based on usergroup.

Yes, I'm looking to store the "badges" in the gallery...but I don't want just anybody to have access to them. I want to password protect them so then I can choose to whom I give the password.

Perhaps it can't be done... I'll figure out another way.

Thanks for taking time to help, Chuck!
