Use of custom1pal.tmpl to show a photo

Dear Support,

We have a online photoclub, and one of the items is: photo of the week, I would like to show this photo which will be placed in a category "Photo of the week" on the custom1pal template which will be shown on the right of the normall categories and would act as a normal showphoto , so people can view a larger image and rate it.

But I'm not sure how to show this photo on the custom1pal template, can you please advise on how to do so?

Possibly use the random photo anywhere mod in the mod forum in that custompal and alter the query to pull a photo from whereever your are trying to pull it from

Note you dont want a random photo so you will want to alter the query to your needs.
