Upload problems

Im trying to upload files to Photopost via FTP or manually, but its not working.

My user file directory is /5535. However the permissions are 755 and I cannot change them to 777. Im not sure how they got changed. There are other user upload directorys in upload with 777 and I can FTP files to those directories, however when I point an upload to the path of this directory, it says the upload works and thumbnail created, but there is no file.

So why is it that my own directory cannot be CMODd? I made the uploads directory 777 again to make sure, then all but two directories under that (including my own /5535) are 777 as well.

I even deleted the folder and recreated it, but I still cannot make it a 777 folder. The error I get is "not a plain file".

Safe mode is off.

Im totally buffalo'd.

The directory info looks like this in /uploads:

drwxrwxrwx 2 udpride udpride 4096 Nov 18 06:48 1
drwxrwxrwx 2 udpride udpride 4096 Feb 26 19:35 10090

Yeah if you continued to have issues I would have suggested you contact your webhost.
