Index Thumbnails

Is it possible to make a thumbnail the default on a top level category that also contains subcategories? At the moment, I can assign default thumbnails for subcategories, but the top level category thumbnail appears to just take the most recent upload from the subcats.

Because of the way I am setting the gallery up, some top level categories only contain subcategories (ie, no images at the topcat level). So I suppose the question is, can I make a subcat thumbnail the default thumbnail for the top level category? Hope that makes sense!

Thanks, Phil

To have a static avatar the image must exist in a category. Therefore top level categories can not have a static avatar unless you upload a photo to them.

Thanks Chuck. I thought that might be the answer.

Think I found a fix for this. If you move a photo from a subcat to the top level category, tag it as the index thumbnail for the top level category, then move the photo back to its subcat again. The thumbnail stays as the index thumb for the top level category!

That would work sure as priorly stated to tag a photo for a category it must exist in that category only if for a minute ;)

Will there ever be a mod to have parent categories show the latest thumb regardless of how many subcats there are? I think this would be a nice mod.

I guess if some user creates one and posts it in the mod forums that might be a possibility but we dont follow what does on in the mod forums so I cant say.
