I have a single file backup that includes all my tables. I've never restored a database so, I'm off to investigate that now.

Can I reasonably assume that tech support will know if the global & storage options are accurate? Since they've done all the moving of my site, I'm at a loss as to what has actually happened here.

I don't mean to sound daft here but, from my perspective, all my FTP info is the same. The paths are as they always were (again, from my perspective).

On a side note, the server my site is on is glitchy. The intention is to move my site to a new server. At this point, I've told them to stall that until after this gallery issue is resolved. Right now, I'm afraid to touch anything!

If they can't get this data back in place, or help me do it, is this a service you can provide? (if so, for what fee? and, while I'm preparing my wish list, an update to the latest version of software). I'm not completely against the idea pleading for mercy & throwing my hands up in the air.

Your host should know what the right paths are correct.

You can look at your single backup and find your INSERT statements for pp_photos and use phpmyadmin to load them back in. Your host since they messed things up should be more than willing to assist you.

Thanks for all your help, Chuck. I've sent them the latest backup file. Linked them to this thread. Fingers crossed.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope this is the last time I have to bug you with this issue. Enjoy a nice holiday!

Update — they've restored the photos but are still working on a script error. I've tried to upload some more photos & get the script error they're referring to. Not fixed, but there has been progress. Thanks!

OK, I try to upload 3 photos & it acts like it is going to work. Then, the list of 3 photos comes up (where you can add categories, fill in descriptions, etc) and when I click "Process", I get this error:

How to Move Servers and/or Change Directories

Please change your data and server paths as I have noted a few times in this thread to the correct server path to the new server and set permissions and you should be fine.

Your error above shows you the path is not correct.

I've linked tech support to this thread from the start & have reminded them to check here. I haven't changed a thing & all modifications up till this point have been made by them.

This is my latest communication from them:

Quote:
Just want to reminds you that we still working on your web page error, we still looking where this configuration file or dbase record located that use the path as /var/hsphere/local/home/jkatz/pets-n-people.net/photopost/data/. We already searched through your application admin panel and they already use the correct one (/hsphere/local/home/jkatz/pets-n-people.net/photopost/data/, with /var prefix), but somehow the error still saying the wrong path, that's the problem that we still trying to fix.

I'll put this ticket status as "Awaiting Info" so we can easily alerted with your ticket pending status. We will get back to you once we've fixed the problem.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have more question.

Your data and uploads paths as noted by the thread for global and storage options need to be prefixed by this server path.

/hsphere/local/home/jkatz/pets-n-people.net/photopost

You have like /var on the front which is wrong.

THANK YOU, CHUCK! It would appear they've got the paths right this time. I haven't done a lot of scruitinization of the gallery but I was able to upload new photos & didn't get the script error. Just a bit of jumping around & all looks well.

I appreciate your help. Whew, I'm glad that's over (bet you are too!).

Thanks again!
