Where do I find upload directories?

Ok, so here I am. A completely incapable computer dork that can't find where to make sure that my "permissions" are set to 777. I have spent an hour reading posts and looking in my admin "console" but I can't find where I can edit the permissions. I have found many posts that say, "make sure uploads and data directories at every level to 777 permissions". But I do not have a clue where to find this or how to get there.

Please help a moron out and give me a little direction. Point me in the right direction and give me a shove.

Just for reference, this is the error message I get;

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/tmp/phpDdVvYw' to '...

By the way, my "safe mode" is turned off. That much I was able to find.

Your data and uploads folders and all the folders underneath them are contained within whatever folder you created to hold Photopost on the server when you ftped the software to your site.
