Ive Changed domain, but...

Hi all,

I recently changed domain, all is going good, but in the bottom of my browser window ( Firefox ), when i look at various photos on my site, i see it says its transferring data from my "Old" Domain name.

Ive checked everywhere i can to see why its picking up the old domain, but cant seem to pin it down.

any ideas?

Chuck S August 28th, 2008 07:36 PM

well a url and where you say its picking up old data would help

Have you verified in global options and storage options in photopost admin you updated your server paths

magz August 28th, 2008 08:34 PM

Just checked again, and all appears fine

http://www.chatanplay.com/photopost/

Using firefox, if you view any picture, at the bottom of the broswer, it is there that is shows that it is transferring data from the old domain.

Unless I am blind, i cannot see any reference to the old domain anywhere

Thank you Chuck

well your photopost looks fine and I dont see anything like what your talking about but view the source of your page and you can search for a url and see where it is coming from possibly something in your vb header footer.

pistebasher August 29th, 2008 05:21 AM

I see it looking for huntingground.co.uk

Chuck S August 29th, 2008 05:25 AM

where do you see that as if you view source you do not find that ;)

I dont see anything in mozilla when images load but he is loading a vb header and footer so this is where I would check.

Looks like any photopost paths are all correct since images view fine

pistebasher August 29th, 2008 05:31 AM

As he says it's in the Firefox bottom bar (very briefly), but I looked in view source after the page had loaded and couldn't see it either :-)

Chuck S August 29th, 2008 05:32 AM

well my machine and connection are too fast here so I cant see every single loading thing as they whisk by but yes I viewed source and see nothing at all out of place and if one of our urls was incorrect in our program something would be broken. ;)

magz August 29th, 2008 08:32 AM

Thanks for looking folks, i too can see nothing out of place, and its starting to annoy me now lol.

The old domain soon will be gone, and im just concerned that my gallery will be affected ( seeing as it appears still to be looking there )

I will keep lookingm but if anyone has any further ideas, id be happy to hear them.

Regards

Hmmm,

Heres an update.

Viewing my profile, or any other, for example this link Here

You can see that some of the URLS there for "Recent Messages" are still pointing to my old domain.

Now, I know all my settings are correct, so what can i do to rectify this?

Hopefully, its going to be an easy fix :)

Chuck S August 29th, 2008 05:55 PM

I see no messages

Anyway as far as Photopost all our urls are in global and storage options

This should assist you in what to check in photopost

magz August 30th, 2008 05:23 AM

Guests i guess cant see it.

Chuck, i have looked at that link several times, and all is in order from what i can tell.

Heres what i see in last 15 comments section Page source

<td align="left" class="alt1" width="80%">
<br />July 31 08:07PM: <a href="http://www.thehuntingground.co.uk/photopost/member.php?uid=465">Jessica</a> has added a comment to your photo <a href="http://www.thehuntingground.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=782">Magic and Crazyeyes</a>.<br /><br />

</td>
<td align="center" class="alt1">
[ <a href="http://www.chatanplay.com/photopost/member.php?ppaction=message&amp;delete=370">remove</a> ]
</td>

The old url is still being referenced somewhere, but i simply cannot find it.

Chuck S August 30th, 2008 09:43 AM

That old url would actually be in your message in the messages table

magz August 30th, 2008 12:00 PM

ok, so how do change it?

What i am noticing, is the gallery images are taking a while to load. While its loading comments etc, Its going off to the old domain.

This is presumably what im seeing when it says "transferring data from.." my old domain.

Heres a link to a little video ive done, showing this issue in action, View it here

Chuck S August 30th, 2008 04:56 PM

Well that message is essentially an email that does out so the message is actually stored like that you could clear your old messages

magz August 30th, 2008 05:15 PM

By clearing old messages, are you simply referring to use the "Remove" link. If so, by my profile, im only able to remove comments made to photos Ive uploaded. How can i do the same for the comments other members would have received.

Can you be a little more specific please. Im really hessitant to remove comments, and if im honest, Ive had the gallery a couple of year now, and there are a fair few Photos and associted comments i would rather not loose.

Update:

I went in phpmyadmin, and removed all content in pp_messages. There were indeed several hundred messages with my old daomain name in there.

However, i still have the same issue. My old domain is still being looked up, as in the video i showed earlier.

Any other Ideas anyone ?

Chuck S August 30th, 2008 06:53 PM

you would have to place a url of where you talking as I stated your photopost is not showing any old url you have old urls throughout data on your site

magz August 30th, 2008 07:08 PM

Chuck, i gave a url earlier, im my messages section which i have now cleared via phpmyadmin.

Giving you a url now is the problem as I cannot find a single entry pointing to my old domain. But as per the video i uploaded, The old domain is Still being referenced somewhere. I do not see this behaviour on any other part of my site other than from within the gallery itself.

I am sure that the slowness of my gallery is due to the old domain still being " looked Up ". Its driving me bonkers now lol

Chuck S August 30th, 2008 09:56 PM

well how would an old domain be referenced if its not in your system. Now as far as a video same thing unless your typing some old name in the description of the video or someone has an old domain name in a comment there is no configuration issue in the gallery here. You have already checked that. There is not much I can say here because the one thing you did find here was messages which as explained is text stored in a database thats not going to reference an old site it is merely a link. I think as far as our program is covered your configured correctly.

magz August 30th, 2008 10:01 PM

The Video i refered to was the one i Linked to on an earlier thread, Showing you the issue im experiancing, not a video in my gallery.

Ah well, looks like im stuck with it.

thanks for trying to help.

RESOLVED

I had my old domain parked, and even though i had redirects turned off, the issue persisted. I simply Unparked the old domain, and issue sorted. This may help others if they encounter a similar thing.
