| Updated Phpbb2 to Phpbb3
Hello,
I have a PP Gallery with a Phpbb2 Forum integrated.
Now I Updated to Phpbb3. A seperate Forum which is installed in the same Root as the still existing and working Phpbb2.
What do I have to change in PP to integrate the New Forum ?
I thought it`s easy and tried to change the Path, Database- and Cookie-Prefix in the Admin Center.
But that didnt work. I couldnt log in as Admin in PP and serveral other Errors.
Could you give me a little List what changes are necessary ?
I also want to use the User-Registration system of Phpbb3.
Thanks

You would need to rerun the install script specify the correct forum database and rerun into the same photopost database and elect to integrate with phpbb3. It is a completely separate forum so its not as easy as you where thinking.

Thanks for your answer.
Is it possible to rerun ONLY the Part of the install script for the Forumintegration or have I to run a complete new installation ?
I don`t want to lose any Photos or things I manually changed in the code.
The Database is still the same for the new Forum.
Only the Forumpath, the Database-Prefix and the Cookiename changed.
My PP-Version is 5.12

Oh no you can not integrate 5.12 with phpbb3. you must upgrade your entire installation to our new code that integrates with phpbb3 and then rerun through an entire install and you will not lose anything if you reinstall to the current database and table prefix.
1. upload all new files except config files
2. run upgrade.php and upgrade your database from 5.1 to 6.1
3. delete any usergroups entries under your usergroups table in photopost database
4. rerun install.php and do a complete new install except make sure your photopost database table prefix and database info is the same so you are essentially installing into the same database so you dont lose photos etc and integrate with phpbb3.

Thanks.
So I have to Upgrade to PP6 first.
Nice, my Account to the Members Area expired a few weeks ago. Seems to be Time to spend 129$ again...
What about the "Data" Directory with all Photos ?
If I do a full new Install, will it not be overwritten ?
Or can I just Upload a Backup of this Directory after the Update ?
The Update to PP6 seems very dangerous to me. PP5 works fine and I dont want to crash it and loose the Style or changings I have done.
Please look at my Site and tell me if it`s possible to run a new PP6 install without any bigger Problems. www.Terrarienbilder.com
Good Support here..

Renewing only costs something like $40. You would lose customizations, yes, but as long as you recorded what you did, you could do them again (assuming they are still needed, some of the common tweaks became part of PP6)

Thanks AdamNP,
Can you give me a Link for this "40$ renewing" ?
I gave my best, but couldn´t find something like that.
I can do all the changings again. But that will take a lot of time. I didn`t exactly record what I´ve changed and I dont know if the Directory-Structure in PP6 is the same as in PP5.
It`s no Problem to spend 8-10 hours in "recovering" all my manual changes. But I don`t want to get totally crazy just because an simple Update from 5 to 6.
Regards

you would simply purchase a members renewal from our online store.
As far as reinstalling as I stated as long as you specify the same photopost database and table prefix for photopost which is usually pp_ you will not lose data.

Many thanks, updated everything and managed it so far.
But there are still 3 Issues remaining: - The Registration doesn`t work properly.
I can Login in the Forum and Gallery, but something with the Cookies seems to be wrong. It doesn`t work to Login once and be Loged-in in both, Gallery and Forum.
The Cookie-Domain is in both ".terrarienbilder.com", Cookie-Name is "phpbb3_4ee45" and Cookie-Path is "/".
Any Ideas ?
Deleting Cookies in my Browser didn`t work.
- How can I change the Numbers of Random Images shown in the Sidebar ?
Editing the Line "display_gallery("random", "", "",1,X,1);" in Template sidebar_leftopen.tmpl does not have any Effect.
- Editing the Numbers of Pictures shown in the Toprated-Pal in Adminmenu doesn`t work also. I would like to get 20 Entries in Toprated-Pal.
Resync the Database doesn`t work.
Would be nice to get as good Support as in Past.

You need to rerun install and specify your phpbb cookie name as yours is empty in the gallery.
Or you can view the pp_settings table setting 165 and enter the cookie name there

Thanks, setting Cookiename in pp_settings table 165 works fine.
I left this during install empty because "Only needed for users of SMF forums". |

I tried now a few hours to get rid of some Problems, but still remaining: - Number of Photos in Random Pal is not changing.
I edited the Line "display_gallery("random", "", "",1,X,1);" in Template sidebar_leftopen.tmpl in any ways I could imagine and saved it always correctly. No Effect !
There are always 5 Random Pictures shown.
- Numbers of Top-Rated Pictures doesn`t change if I change the Number in Admin-Control. There are always 10 Top-Rated Pictures shown. The Top-Rated Pictures are also not correctly sorted !
Disable Category-Cache didn`t work.
- If I enable "Show html code to display photos?
Do you want to show the img src html tag for a photo?" in Admin-Control nothing happens. The Links are not shown.
During the Update I´ve got no Error-Messages. After the Update I must say that I´m not very happy at all.
I didn`t change the config files as you said. If I have to edit these it`s no problem.
I`m sure there is a way to solve these Problems. Please tell me how.

It says only for smf wowbb or phpbb3 users
If your changing things make sure you have the cache off in global options
If you enabled some of the extra links make sure ubbcode is set to on and you will see a more link.

| I did so ! I`m trying now for serveral Days everything over and over again.
I checked the Database manually. I scanned the database a few times. I checked the chmod-rights of the files at the Server. I searched serveral inc.php files for something to Hardcode. Fact is:
I am not able to change the Numbers of Random Pictures shown.
I am not able to change the Numbers of Top-Rated Photos. Top-Rated Photos are also false sorted ! Quote: |

| Works. Thank you. Could be easier in the next Update..

Your cache is updating because I would think people have registered on your site and it correctly shows 101 users
You can send us via email on the contact us link an admin login

Statistics are working fine. No Problem with the Statistics-Pal. It`s updating correctly.
As I described Random-Pictures and Top-Rated Pal is not working. Not at all.
I´ve sent Admin Login relating to this Thread to your Contact-Formular.
