"FILES" folder filling up with copies of upload photos...

Ok, this may be critical to the functionality of the gallery, and because I don't know, I thought I should ask. There is a folder called gallery/images/FILES and every time a photo is uploaded in my gallery, 2 copies of that upload are sent to this folder. At 2 copies an upload, It will fill up pretty quickly. Is this supposed to work this way? Or is there a way to stop this from happening?

Can anyone shed some light on this? I did delete one image from this folder, and my image from the gallery disappeared , So I ended up deleting that upload alltogether.

I just feel like I'm doing something wrong......

There should be at least 2 if not 3 images in the files folder for every last image depending on your settings

1. the thumbnail
2. the main image
3. the original unaltered image if you choose to save them
