1k correct size for table backups?

I've just noticed that when I backup my database tables via the admin area, all of my sql files are only 1k in size. Does this sound right for an installation that has 30 or 40 categories with over 4,000 photos?

No it is not correct and the backup utility will not work on some setups. I suggest you do backups from your hosting control panels sql manager for proper backups.
