Unable to Watermark

Hi Chuck and co.

I have been unable to watermark for some time. I thought i'd give it ago again tonight.


I am using ImageMagik with Photopost 6.01

I have set:

Edit Settings -> Watermark Options -> Enable watermarking = Yes
Edit Settings -> Watermark Options -> Position = South East
Edit Settings -> Watermark Options -> Full path = /home/josh/joshandfriends.com.au/images/logos/JAFP_sig_logo.gif


Image Protection -> Options -> Enable On The Fly = Yes
Image Protection -> Options -> Overlay Watermark = Yes
Image Protection -> Options -> Full path = /home/josh/joshandfriends.com.au/images/logos/JAFP_sig_logo.gif


The image I am trying to use as the watermark is here: http://www.joshandfriends.com.au/ima...P_sig_logo.gif

It is 243 * 143 pixels.


None of the photos are being Watermarked (such as: Josh_and_Friends_staff_00004 - Photos and Movies - Josh and Friends).

Any ideas what the problem may be?

well first off you need to decide what watermarking are you trying to do. Permanent or On the Fly you cant do both.

I know why nothing is watermarked thats easy because although you have permanent watermarking turned on under edit categories in admin I bet all your watermarking permissions via usergroups are not clicked.

Now if you do not want to do permanent watermarking turn it off do not worry about setting usergroup permissions under edit categories and leave on the on the fly settings to yes and change your watermark to a png image as thats what that requires.

Now if you want to do permanent watermarking keep your gif watermark turn off on the fly watermarking and simple set the watermark permissions as noted in admin edit categories.

I will try that. I would prefer on the fly watermarking.

Okay well if you want on the fly turn off permanent watermarking leave your current settings except permanent alone and make your watermark a png image.

That should be it.

Hi Chuck,

I have tried on the fly with .png and I can't get it to work.

I then re-tried permanent and can not find this permission you mentioned in edit categories. Where is it?

You will only see the permanent watermarking permissions if it is turned on

As far as the on the fly what do you mean you cant get it to work

As long as you turn it on and the png is valid full server path to the file it should work

Ok checked out your site. I definitely will want permanent watermark as i will want the ability for my users to save the images.

Ok i've noticed a couple of things:

1) With on the fly image protection/watermarking I can still right click images and save them. Also the watermark doesn't show.
2) Under edit categories and edit usergroups their are no watermark permissions

Any ideas? Perhaps I can send you a user to try this on?

There would not be any permissions if your doing on the fly

For on the fly to work

1. You must set the full server path to a png image

2. You must turn on the option to use the watermark script and the overlay image

I cant see what your doing incorrectly without an admin login and url
