How do create Group of Photos in Category

Hello,

I want to create lot of galleries in grouped format.

Currently I am doing it this way:

1. Created a main category "Adult Websites Preview".

2. Created a sub-category "69G's" under the above category (Adult Websites Preview > 69G's).

3. Created a sub-category "Rakhees World" under the above category (Adult Websites Preview > 69G's > Rakhees World).

4. Create a album.

5. Uploaded photos into it.

6. Edited album and assign it to the above category.

I follow the steps 4 to 6 to create a group of photos for the above category.

Now there is so much of headache in this because there are so many galleries that I have to create and under different categories and doing the above way is a very time consuming process.

I did think of creating last level categories as the album names and upload photo there but it will become to messy with 100's and 1000's of categories.

I did find one open source script that solves the above purpose but then its not as efficient as PhotoPost.

Is there an easier way to create group of photos in a category? I badly need this feature.

Any help here would be highly appreciated.

Not that I know of. Essentially you break photos down into categories or albums. I suppose it sounds like your looking for a way to group photos and still be in the same categories.

Hello Chuck,

Yes, I need to create photo albums in the respective categories but not the way that I am presently doing because its a very complicated and time consuming process.

I wish if something could be done that would allow even the members to upload group of photos in a category.

Something like what we do in a forum, create a new thread in a category and then all the replies and posts are grouped in that thread.

I am also PMing you a link which I referenced in my original post. All we have to do is create directories (any level deep) and the script automatically creates the navigation, thumbnails etc. Its basically uses a directory based navigation system and if it finds any images in it, it displays the same along with prev & next links.

I was responding to your support question. Feel free to post suggestions for future versions of Photopost in the suggestions forum for Michael to browse when he works on a new beta.

Sorry about that. I just wanted to point out the desired functionality. Can you please ask Michael if he can do something so that creating a group of photos at the category level or the one similar to forum style can be achieved.

Grouping of photos make it easier for the people to browse them else they all get mixed up. I think it would be a wonderful feature.

I will however post this as a feature request in the suggestions form.

Yeah not sure how something like that would be handled

The default functionality of a forum thread is already used in the product when users place comments. Not entirely sure myself how one would group photos without categories. I see you placed your suggestion so Michael can see it when he works with a beta.

Thanks Chuck,

I actually was giving a example of the forum to illustrate that how the things go in the forum.

This is what could be seen in the photopost too. Members create a new thread (take this name for the time being) in a particular category and then upload photos into it.

Here, thread means simply a title and a description. This would work like when people click on upload photos, they will be presented with a option to enter a thread title and description at the top. The common photo title, description and keywords will remain unchanged.

When other people browse the category, they see the thumbnail, thread title along description below it and other fields. Exactly the same layout that we see on the homepage.

Its up to Michael how he works on this feature now. But, thanks a lot for taking interest in this topic.

Yes I was simply noting a photo gallery and forum are not really similar in how they are presented. Yes Michael will need to decide what is best.
