Photo resizing (Pixel size) for upload

We are going to skin the Forum/Gallery to match our website which is built on a width of 960px. We would like the transition experience from the site to the Gallery to be almost seemless. We will be uploading about 2,000 photos but need to resize these original scanned photos.

In order to keep from using scroll bars in Photopost when someone is viewing large images, what width (pixles) should we have these pictures reduced to?

We will not be using calendars or statistics on the sides of the main area. That optional information will be at the bottom.

Is there a better way to do this? I have seen some PP gallery's that open up the enlarged picture in a seperate browser and some that open in the same window, just add the scroll bar.

You can keep the medium to about 600 to prevent scrolling however you can keep the large ones whatever size you wish. You can use under the showphoto options the bigpopup window and or lightbox features which open the large in a new window.

Sure we create a medium to a size you wish. I beleive my last post explained you can set a medium threshold in upload options as you wish and under showphoto options enable the bigpopupwindow or lightbox to open the large image without breaking the page.
