Default permissions for data directory

CHMOD value for data directory is 777 (this was set during install)
I can go into each sub-directory and chmod to 777 and then the full photo upload process goes over without a hitch.

But when a new member tries to upload to their own gallery it creates a new directory in data and the permissions are not set to 777.

Is there a default setting in photopost to correct this? Or is this an issue with the server?

I believe this is a PHP/system issue as your system determines what permissions are applied to new directories; they have to be changable by the PHP processes. What is the owner of the directories being created and what your server runs under?
