permission setting problem with hidden folder

I notice that the sub folders thumbs and medium in the data directory of photopost will become hidden once the number of photos in a particular folder, say 501 reached several thousands.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having similar experience and how do you set permission though regular ftp client to the hidden folder. I'm facing this problem after changing host and need to set permission to 777 to all the sub folder of the Data directory. The client I use is CuteFTP Pro.

All help appreciated,
Andrew.

You would have to contact your host about this issue. You should still be able to see them using your sites file manager client correct?

Using SSH is the best way to set all permissions to 777 and your host can assist

CHMOD -R 777 data

The files are not hidden, just the listing is truncated. Your host has a FTP listing limit, most are set to about 1998. What this measn is that if there are more than 1998 files in the directory the server will not send a longer list. Hosts usually do not increase it, dont ask me why...

A good work around is to use SFTP. You will need to ask your host if they support it.
