PhotoPost main table width option

When setting the PhotoPost main table width, why doesn't the menubar, categories, recent, most viewed, comments and random block show as 1 universal width based on this setting? How can it be fixed where all will show the same size with this setting?

With out if being uniform, it shows a bit scattered, and appears out of alignment, which is not much for visual appeal

Main page table width!!

I am having the same proble.

Chuck S May 11th, 2008 10:59 AM

Please post a url here

Usually if your going to use the sidebar and stuff you want to set Photopost width to 100% so it does not mess with the sidebar etc but instead wrap Photopost in a table in the header and close it in the footer of a fixed width.

Site width!

Chuck,
The width is set @ 100%. It was working ok prior to the upgrade.
Check out my site please: tabouda.com

Try turning off use forum style in admin => forum settings. Your not using the forum style

Kinda weird actually because I show that site is a standalone site yet your trying to use vb style or something?

Chuck, not sure if you are referring to me. I used to use SMF forums, but when I transferred the site to the new host, I dumped the SMF and just imported the DB into my PP database I have now. I checked my settings, and I do not have it set to use forum styles.

I am trying to reduce the width, as there is so much space between the thumbs, thus giving me a more compact look.. Why doesn't it set all the same based on the width setting?

Chuck S May 11th, 2008 09:22 PM

My reply is meant for tabouda.

Your site you do not have set to 100% and if your using the sidebar it doesnt work. Load a header and footer for Photopost in the global options say with this and set your layout options width to 100%

sample header.htm file

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.
sample footer.htm file

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.

I see what you mean now, in fact, it look much smoother without the sidebars.

Thanks!

Chuck S May 11th, 2008 09:39 PM

yeah when running a sidebar you always want your main table width set to 100. See what happens is if you set it to a percentage or set fixed width then your sidebar will take up a certain width you set and then also in your remaining td your photopost app is going to take 85% of that space so things look whacky. You always want to wrap with a opening header footer over the app and keep it to 100% that way you can use a sidebar or whatever you want and things look uniform.

skidpics May 11th, 2008 09:41 PM

I see what you mean.

Okay, with the default template it all works fine, when I try the metal or blue, the recent, most popular, random and comment pals align on the left side instead of center of page like the rest. Any suggestions?

Chuck S May 11th, 2008 09:47 PM

There are no align declarations in those styles that I see that would cause anything like that.

If you do what I noted above loading a header and a footer you should be fine to use any style.

skidpics May 11th, 2008 10:23 PM

I think the alignment issue is with firefox, IE shows it fine.. Any suggestions what would make it cross browser compatible?

Headers and Footers do not seem to do the trick.

Chuck S May 12th, 2008 06:29 AM

well you will have to load headers footers and the problem style as I can not assist if I cant see.

skidpics May 12th, 2008 07:20 PM

hey Chuck, I don't think the site is pulling up my footer.htm and header.htm, but it is working for headtags.htm

I can edit the footer via admin, but nothing shows, and when trying to save something, I am getting this error:

Unable to create or fix permissions for the file: /footer.htm

Correct the permissions or set the file path in the Admin Global Options.

Chuck S May 12th, 2008 07:54 PM

That does not look like you have entered your correct server path to the header or footer and those files must be set via ftp to 666.

In global options you must use full path like so

/var/www/html/gallery/header.htm

skidpics May 12th, 2008 07:59 PM

alright - fixed the full path and that got it working. thanks! I just thought it would take from the root..

However, it still doesn't fix alignment problem in firefox, but works fine with IE..

I rebooted the browser, and you are right, it is working out fine now. thanks for the help.

Chuck S May 12th, 2008 08:06 PM

Yep might want to set your browser cache to load the page fresh each time instead of a cached one. That will save you alot of headaches in the long run if you like changing things up and expecting to see your new work only to be thumping your head against the wall saying why has nothing changed.

skidpics May 12th, 2008 08:15 PM

very true - I just don't see the option in Firefox, so I will do some research on the subject.

Thanks for all the help!
