| Shown file size using Imagmagick or GD2
Hi there,
I justed changed my complete vBulletin 3.6.x and Photopost 5.62 installation with database and photos to another server.
With that I changed from GD2 to IM in admin menu: Quote:
Imaging Integration (IM or GD)
Select ImageMagick or GD1/GD2 for image processing
| Works fine after setting the path to mogrify somewhere in the menu. The IM processed photos are a little sharper than those recalculated by GD2 - all is fine.
BUT - now comes the clou - the file sizes shown by Photopost under the pictures are those file sizes of the photos before prossing by IM. So, an example: Photopost says, the image is 1235.0 KB in size (exact size before uploading), but in real the reduced picture has 63.1 KB left only. This happens with IM only, but with all pictures, even when the file size is only little higher before uploading.
Using GD2 -> Photopost shows exactly the correct new file sizes after processing.
So, where is the problem, please?
I would like to change that. Please do not tell me to update Photopost, I really really would like to avoid that for several reasons.
Can I edit somewhere the code, please?
Thanks a lot
Markus

I have always used IM and I dont see this issue. I checked the filesizes on disk and they appear to be the correct sizes of the processed images. Have you checked via ftp the actual file I take it you have. what version of the software you using? My stock answer here if your using a much older version would be to upgrade but no one has ever reported any error such as this.

Thank you Chuck. I used GD2 till now (IM in vBulletin but not in PhotoPost).
It is always the same. Using IM for image processing -> "showphoto" shows the filesize of the original photo, always. Let the original photo be 1.500 or 70KB of size. As soon as IM processes the photo (to reduce resolution) the old value is shown. Yes, the pictures are of correct, reduced filesize, so it means maybe 60KB. Its just the old value showing up.
I use PhotoPost 5.62 on Debian 4.0 64bit on an Athlon 64 CPU with Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) PHP/5.2.0-8
5.0.32 mysql
It does not happen with GD, but IM produces little sharper quality...
One again thank you!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but did anyone get to the bottom of this issue?
I've recently moved to a new server and have been able to switch from GD2 to imagemagick, which is much better BUT, i am now having the exact same problem, all image file sizes underneath the photos are pre-resize file sizes |

This is not something we ever could verify. I have checked many a photo and the photo size is explicitly the size of the file ondisk. bj_171 - ReefTalk Gallery |

File on disk, taken from /photopost/data/500/ is 46.8kb - see attached.
Am i missing something Chuck?

so its only after your server move. Most likely an issue with a bug on the server or version thereof of PHP Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
I would suspect more so this scenerio because your files have not changed Photopost is still Photopost and it worked fine. what version of PHP does this new server use? Maybe we can search to see if anyone has posted filesize bugs? Its a long shot but who knows

| PHP: filesize - Manual
I would suspect maybe an issue with filesize and the server. Try processing different size files and see if all are wrong on this new server or just certain ones.

Chuck, it's definately only a problem when using imagemagick. If i switch back to GD2 the filesizes are okay.
Imagemagick: IMG_44421 - X-Members Gallery
84.2kb on disk
GD2 IMG_4442 - X-Members Gallery
63.7kb on disk
Original image size is 3.21mb

well it could be a problem with IM processing on the new server maybe I cant say. I use Imagemagick so all the examples I am posting are with IM. Now this has to be some unique server issue as two people are reporting this in 7 years.

Andy seems to be a unique situation related to your server. I have thrown out my guesses on that one. If it was an error with the actual code it would be able to be replicate it.

Added Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
To image-inc.php. Filesizes seem to be correct after upload now...
