Re-Scan takes too long

Our gallery at www.nail-board.de/nailart-galerie/ contains over 39000 photos. A re-scan can take up to 48 hours. Can someone report the same issues? or can let me knwo what the issue could be/how to improve the re-scan that it runs faster.

Regards

Taner

I dont think it should take this long but your server specs have alot to do with how long something like that would take. Better server would definately help

not agreed, we are using Intel Core2 Quad 2,4 Ghz // 4.096 MB and should be more than enough. how can you say something like that without knowing what specs our servers have. Happy to discuss via email, phone, pm re server specs happy to provide access to server incl. ssh to get this fixed. happy to pay if needed, just want this issue to get resolved.

Chuck you can do better. Your answers are not helpful to resolve the issue, back to my question:

Well then hopefully someone else can chime in running that many ads on their site.

However just based on what a rescan is I assume rebuilding thumbs etc it is using your servers gd2 or imagemagick to recreate pics. That is totally server intensive and relies solely on the server side of things to process the software side is a simple query array and within the array the image is rebuild there is nothing software end here we can do to rebuild that. Now if your server logs give any clue to where a backlog is taking place I would be happy to respond given more info otherwise I will let other users read and respond accordingly.
