Easiest way to reinstall/reintegrate

When our server moved us to a new platform they lost all the guts to our photopost that was integrated with our phpBB2 boards. The data is there but all other folders are empty.

I have a backup of our database. I have a copy of the "version" they have on our server. I have a copy of the original photopost that was installed.

So since they screwed up so much I have been redoing our site. I have successfully upgraded our message boards from phpBB2 to phpBB3. Now I want to integrate photopost into this message board.

In our original photopost we had over 10,000 images. I want to retain all those images.

What would be the best way to proceed?

I would suggest you reinstall the database. You would then reinstall the photopost files and run install.php to get things working make sure to use the same table prefix as the old tables this will not delete old data and then run upgrade after install to update tables etc

You should then have a working photopost. Take note to do this you will need a working backup of the data directory and database at minimum. You also need to reset permissions accordingly as well like a new install.

My original database is still there. They were at least able to get that much transferred over.

So I should install the original photopost files that I had installed to begin with or the newest version 6.02? I'm not sure what version the old one is but I bought it April '05. Will this integrate with phpBB3?

Then after that is up and running then I should run the upgrade? I just want to make sure I am doing things in the correct order.

No you must install the new version to integrate with phpbb3. yes you do install then upgrade from your database version to the new one. As noted for old photos to show you must have the old data directory.

When should I ftp the data directory to the new photopost 6.02 upload, before or after the first install, or before the upgrade? Just making sure I do this in the right order.

It looks to me like you restored your gallery but you have not ran the install to integrate with phpbb3 or corrrect your paths etc

Did you follow the steps I outlined?

This is what I did.

I FTPed the data files into the data directory and made sure all permissions were set correctly on all folders listed on the install directions. (I had already ftp the photopost files before hand.) The original database was already there and I kept the original prefix pp_ . I ran the install of 6.02 and filled in all the information I thought I was supposed to for the integration of the forums. Then I ran an upgrade from version 5.01 through to the end.

Where did I miss something?

I was able to log into admin when I first posted. Now it takes me to page not found once I put in my user name and password. I also get that when I try to click on register.

I did notice that the header path was to the old message boards so I tried to change that to the new header in the new boards. Could that have been what created the log in mess? How can I fix that since now I can't get myself back into admin

Ok, sorry to keep asking questions but I am trying to figure things out. I want to learn, I want to know how to do this. anyways.

I am looking through my config-int file and I am wondering what exactly I should have here in this spot and what does this refer to.

$vbpath

should this be the path to my forums? I am confused as to what vb stand for. I am integrating with phpBB3....and what is VB3 integration referring to?

Another question...doing a lot of reading and searching for answers here.

Here you told someone to delete the usergroups table and then run install and answer things correctly including proper cookie name. Where exactly would I find the correct cookie name? I found one on my forums admin - would that be the same one?

Ok.....I decided to try and reinstall and these are the errors I am getting...well some of them, the list is rather long.

Quote:

thanks for your help.

I dont see any issue there it just says they are duplicates which dont affect anything as you have tried running install before.

I am still locked out of admin - I am sure it is something to do with me changing out the path of the old header (when I was able to get into admin) to the path of what I thought (and apparently must not be) what is the path to the new header with the new forums. I have looked and looked through files to see where that might be so I could manually change it back, but am unable to locate that.

Also it is still not integrating with our message boards and these are the paths that I have put in.

Path to forums:
http://ascrappinfriendsy.com/forums

Forums database table prefix for your forum:
phpbb_

phpBB3, SMF or WowBB Cookie Name:
phpbb3_ni6j8 (this I found in the admin panel of my forums - is this the right one?)

Then on the next page....

Server Path to Forum directory:
/server info...../public_html/photopost/forum (this is what it shows and I changed it to...)

/server info..../public_html/forums

Server Path to PhotoPost directory:
/server info..../public_html/photopost

Prefix to tables:
pp_

All other vB integrations I have set to off.

Then when I click on admin-index it takes me to a log in page and then page not found.

Ok....this is really strange. i could not log in at all. Was clicking around on things and all of a sudden I am logged in as administrator?

Not sure what did that...it has been this way for hours (that i was unable to log in).

It looks like maybe I have integrated something? the header is way wonky and thumbnails are not showing a picture when you click on them - well some are and some aren't.

well you would clear your usergroups table in the photopost database before reinstall so your phpbb3 and the usergroups can align correct

as far as images not showing right it looks to me like your server paths are not correct for your data and uploads directories so recheck those in global and storage options example this image does not exist on your server why?

If new photos upload fine then maybe you did not import your old data directory and thats going to cause alot of issues which means you need to start completely over so lets find out what is wrong there. You need to check and see why the images are not displaying as if I right click a missing image and try and load it in the browser it does not exist on your server that I see.

oK...when I go in through ftp and look at my uploads folders I have folders 1 - 873 and they have a plus sign at the left side saying that something should be inside of them, but when I click on that nothing is in there. Should something be inside of those folders?

It says I do not have permissions to upload. I know the chmod is set to 777 on uploads.

I have this very sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that the server has lost a lot of our photos, huh?

I had a backup of the database, and I thought I had a backup of the data files, but they appear to be incomplete?

Ok....as a regular user I can upload but when I am logged in as an administrator I cannot do an upload? Any ideas there?

I figured it out...phpbb3 makes admins as a different category, etc and I had to set those permissions accordingly.

Is there a way I can regenerate thumbnails for the images that are showing up in the gallery (but not a thumbnail).
