You need to create a watermark and not really something some one can tell you to do as that would depend on the graphics program you use as every last one is different. Basically you want to create a transparent image in a gif or png based on what processor your using. For imagemagick you use a gif and for gd2 you use a png watermark

Thats just an example i use on my site

Once you have an image you create that you like its pretty simple to fill out the options in admin and we can gladly assist you there if your having problems.

Well the problem I'm having is it doesn't seem to scale the watermark to the imagine. Say for example the photo uploaded is smaller than the width of the watermark.

Yeah watermarks are not resized. You need to create a watermark thats going to look good on most images. Normal is 200 to 300 x 50 or 60

What type of watermarking are you setting up? Permanent or on the fly?

Okay Thats easy.

1. Make sure your watermark is a png image

2. Make sure the you will on the watermark path and set the following options to yes in admin => image protection => options

Enable on-the-fly image protection
This option uses the watermark.php script to serve images

When using on-the-fly image generation, do you want to overlay the watermark image?
You can use this feature for on-the-fly watermarks in combination with the on-the-fly image generation.

Full server path to watermark overlay image.
