Missing table - PPPHPPHOTOS.MYD

Last night our PPPHPPHOTOS.MYD file was corrupted (went AWOL I guess). My last backup is from 10/3/2007. I can do the restore, but am wondering if there is away to reimport the photos uploaded since then since I have the DATA folder and all of it's contents in tact.

Thanks, Kris

Hello

You can restore the backup surely but without a more current backup only way to upload newer photos is to clone your data directory maybe and delete older files before 10-3 and bulk import the newer images. They would not be owned by the correct people nor would they have titles or descriptions unless you did this but there is no way to restore data accurately without a backup to know what is what.

That is what I thought you would suggest, but just wanted to see if there was another way. Thanks!

Nope sorry no other way. The photos may exist in the data directory but the information that tells the program the info etc for all the photos is in mysql. I take daily weekly and monthly backups of my database and I would suggest everyone do the same as well as do regular site backups of the actual data. Mysql crashes do occur and you have discovered first hand the effects of not having a recent backup.

I completely understand about the backups. Thought we had the backup process in place, but found out the hard way it wasn't. We can recover the 1,000 or so images manually, with some sweat and tears.

I do have one more question. If I were to upgrade Photopost after doing a restore of the DB, are there any utilities as part of the upgrade that would automatically find and import the "orphaned" folders/files in the data directory into Photopost (I totally understand that the categories, text, original owners, etc would be missing, but since I'm planning to upgrade anyway, I could use the upgrade process to at least get the images back into the database.

No sorry there are no such tools other than the bulk upload process which has been a part of Photopost for along time. You would need to clone the data directory and remove all files older than 10-3 and bulk import category by category of images.
