Search Function Within Categories

Has the search function changed? I thought that I used to be able to search within a category if I was in the category when I started the search.

But recently it seems that regardless of where I am when I start a search I get results from the entire collection.

My version is 5.62

Search Function

If I select the "Search" button at the top of a the gallery - the one that appears next to "admin" when I am logged in - if I select a category to search within, this does not appear to make a difference. It seaches all of the categories.

I seems to me to be not working right.

Any advice? Did I switch off its function?

You can only search per category on the main search page.

Search by category

I think that I understand you, but my site is not behaving correctly.

I go to

http://www.larchmonthistory.org/photopost/index.php

Select "Search" on the line that says "home search log-in"

I then enter the term "palmer" and select "search title only"

The I select the category "Gedney Cemetery" which is a cemetery that has no palmers.

I get 51 hits that are photos from all over the site.

The system did not use to behave this way so I figure I changed something by mistake.

what version are you running?

I think you might need to upgrade to 6.01 to correct any previous bugs in the script if there where some. I think that is the correct thing you want to do.

I did a search on our gallery with a search term and selected one cat and results from that cat are displayed.
