Question No Category thumbnails on Index only?

Hey,

How do I get rid of category thumbnail on INDEX page only?

See here:

http://www.auto-talk.net/pictures/

Is there any way to get rid of those thumbnails without disabling this feature? I would like the thumbnails in sub-categories but no on the index page.

Thank you!

Possibly edit your categories template and delete any html that is printed when catavatars is set to yes?

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
and say this

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

Thanks!

Wouldn't that be categall template and not categories template?

We are not using the forum-style layout.

Sorry, but I don't get it.

We are not using the forum-style layout...

This option is set to NO
Do you want to use the forum-style layout?
Yes is the default setting, No uses the thumbnail gallery layout

So, categall.tmpl and categories.tmpl are same template? If i edit one the changes should take place in the other?

If you look at the source coe, t says categall.tmpl and not categories.tmpl

thanks

No you dont edit one template and except the other to change. You would remove the indexavatar code from the categories template however category avatars dont really appear on the index page if your using the alternate layout so I am not really sure here what your after as there is no specific column in the alternate layout for index avatar. Do feel free to discuss code modifications in the MOD CORNER.

So, you don't see category avatars/icons here?

http://www.auto-talk.net/pictures/

If I remove the current thumbnails the latest picture uploaded becomes the avatar.

Well yes I do but if you remove that you remove your link to the parent category. You can remove this from the categall template if you want to do that its up to you.

{$cats['thumbnail'][$x]}

Otherwise you would need to hit remove index thumb when viewing each of those avatars for each cat and then the latest thumbnail would as you know be the latest photo uploaded.

This is what happens when I remove the code above... see screenshot.

I just want to to remove the cat thumbs from INDEX page and not the sub categories.

Thanks

Yes correct which is why I told you what would happen before you do it. I explained above if you want to remove the cat avatars just view each cat avatar for each cat and hit REMOVE INDEX THUMB and use the standard unhacked template.

I don't want to remove index thumb from each category... just the index/main page of photopost.

The link above, anyway to remove index/category thumbnails and still be able to keep thumbnails for the rest of the sub-categories?

THank you

You only remove an index thumb for each parent category that shows on the index page. Removing the index thumb of say the parent cat which has no images does not affect whether there is an index thumb in some sub category as category avatars are explicitly set for each category. You may choose to use category avatars or not is what I am saying.

If I remove the thumb for the index categories, the latest image uploaded for that category becomes the thumbnail.. how do I prevent that? I can't go in and do that for 25,000 pictures. There has to be an simple/easy way to do this.

Thank u

Your losing me here. I have explained the default working of the code. If you use the categall template the thumbnail shown is either the category avatar or the last photo uploaded to that cat or its children. There is no way around that. That is just how the product works.
