upgrade, but keep old version

Hi
I like the new version, I would like to upgrade in a new folder keeping the older version, and not telling my users about the new ersion untill I am done arabising it and fixing it to the shape I like, and to be on safe side, so I can go back to older version if new one is not working the way I like.

Can I do that, I dont mind buying another license if I need to, but only if this is posible, and using same databse, so both will be updated with posts, so if we chose new one, then it would be up to date.

Thanx in advance

Hani

well you can install a test copy as long as its not web accessible. You would need to essentially clone your database and install your second copy into that database to get it running under the test url paths etc and then run an upgrade also from your last version because install will not update tables it finds. You will get lots of duplicate errors dont worry your playing with your copy not the real one which is why you cloned the database tables into a new database. You should then have an active test copy.
