Adding links to Welcome! area

Is there any way to allow html in the Welcome! area, so we can add links to that area? And if not, do you have any ideas for adding an area for links near the Welcome! area, either above or below? We'd like to provider users links back to some of our vBulletin forums, right when they login to the photo gallery on the main page.

well you could alter your header but if you want to add stuff to the welcome error that template is indexhead.tmpl
