See/Calculate the most popular photo

Hi Chuck,

Can you please tell me how we can tell which photo is the most viewed, highest rated or overall most popular? I found in the admin panel/approval interface where you can do this sorting to a degree but it only sorts per member's gallery rather than over all.

In "a perfect gallery world" (LOL) we could put a date option (from the 1st to the last day of the month) and get statistics on which photo was viewed the most, saved to favorites, voted highest, etc. We have monthly contests - can you advise?

Have you checked out the highest rated pal on the sidebar or most viewed feature photos options?

They are all enabled in admin.

Hi Chuck!

No, I had not tried using the Side Bar PAL. The only time I played with it before was when the gallery was brand new and empty, it looked bad so I disabled it. Since you suggested it I enabled it - thank you!

Can you tell me though, where it has the "top rated" and it listed the top 4, are those the ones that have the most 10 thumbs up ratings/votes? Or how are those calculated?

you can set the number of comments highest rated etc at bottom of sidebar settings you want to show. Make sure to turn your category cache off to update the index in global options in admin.

Are you meaning the settings as far as how many members show up in the list? If so I have found that and set that number where we want it. I was wanting to find out if those in the list are the ones that received the most amount of thumbs up votes, or is it just a random list of users that got 10 thumbs up? Meaning: Will the member that rec'd 7 'perfect' ratings appear higher in the list than a member that rec'd 4 'perfect' ratings?

Also, while I'm asking about these thumbs up votes, is it possible to hide the number of votes that each member votes a picture? I'd like to continue showing comments and allow people to vote but have the number of thumbs up rating that each user gives a picture to be hidden, so people are more likely to vote and be honest about it.

which one you talking about?

Top posters is the most photos uploaded

Highest Rated does not show users and is photos based on rating and views.

So I think your talking something maybe outside the program.
